One of our favorite days of the year is ALWAYS the Charleston Junior Women's Club Oyster Roast ... you might ask why and even what is Charleston Junior Women's. Keep reading to hear all about the club and the fantastic event all of the members (including us!) pulled off this weekend.
Charleston Junior Women's Club (CJWC for abbreviation) is a social and service oriented club for women between in their 20's, 30's and early 40's. The club began in 1966 and has had active participation with countless Charleston area non-profit and volunteer groups since. This club is near and dear to our hearts because we both joined shortly after moving to Charleston and this is how we met! Every month, the club volunteers with different groups around Charleston, but we also partner with one organization throughout the year for volunteering and fundraising to help achieve their organization's mission. This year we are partnered with Doors to Freedom, a non-profit stablished to provide a safe place for survivors of sex trafficking to experience a transformed life. Check out their website for more information.
With social media being the go to way of documenting pretty much anything, we wanted to share pics of our instagram story throughout the event. Hopefully YOU will see how much fun it was and want to come with us next year!
To start, the event was held at the Oyster Shed at Leon's ... holy moly, this is our new favorite venue. We enjoyed some of our favorite Leon's menu items including oysters, avocado toast and fried chicken sandwiches.
In addition to oysters, we also ran a silent auction with donations from the kindest and most talented businesses in Charleston. Thanks to everyone who donated, but especially our friends of Island Haus Paperie, Art by Lauren Jane, Salt Spa and Barre South. Check out these businesses and all they do!
While most of the CJWC meetings and events are ladies only, this event is co-ed and family friendly. Our beaus, Greg and Brent, had the best time and always support us in our business and volunteer endeavors.
As the event came to a close, Leon's treated us with some of their soft serve ice cream. We wouldn't have asked for a better surprise!
Yesterday was literally the best day. Be sure to check out all of the organizations and businesses we linked in this post. If you have any questions about CJWC or Doors to Freedom, don't hesitate to ask! Until next time ...
